There's so much residual fondness for Google, especially among employees. It's like if they replaced the singer in your favorite band with a Pfizer executive; you'd buy another couple of albums out of desperate hope. But people need to look the situation honestly in the face.

I use @DuckDuckGo a lot instead of Google. They don't track you, either. I've tried doing the exact same searches on them both to compare, and DuckDuckGo is just as good.
At the very least you can take your we'd searches elsewhere. I do 99% of my searching with @DuckDuckGo. That remaining 1%? I use Google Image Search for better album art because I refuse to search with Bing.
