Senator Mike Braun is a staunch opponent of same-sex marriage, and Google is a vocal #pride sponsor. Yet this unlikely pair found each other, and Google has made things official with a $1000 campaign donation... in a year Braun isn't even running! He's up in 2024.pic.twitter.com/wHETvjze0p
These donations are made out of paycheck dedutions. If you work at Google, you can go down this list of donors and ask your coworkers if they realize where their money is being spent. Just be careful; Google has fired 5 people for organizing since November https://docquery.fec.gov/pdf/680/201912209166686680/201912209166686680.pdf …
More from the filing: Rep. Jackie Walorski pushed to have a discriminatory "religious freedom" amendment tacked on to a 2016 defense bill, and voted in support of Trump's transgender ban. Google gave her $3000 on November 12.pic.twitter.com/SsNn3xO0Jx
Republican hardliner David Schweikert famously used queer-baiting tactics to secure his contested primary in 2012 (see excerpt), and has been struggling to fundraise this year. Google helped him out with $2,000.pic.twitter.com/8L9tJ3Dqwp
You can't boycott Google (you're not the customer), you can't avoid their monopoly power, Congress won't regulate them, the employees refuse to organize, the founders have left, and the company's message for us each month with these egregious donations is simple: "sit and spin".
There's so much residual fondness for Google, especially among employees. It's like if they replaced the singer in your favorite band with a Pfizer executive; you'd buy another couple of albums out of desperate hope. But people need to look the situation honestly in the face.
But the Bible had such a program. Farmers were required to leave dropped crops behind up to a certain % for the poor to gather.
@JodeyArrington what do you have to say for yourself? Why don't you donate the $2,000 to a local food bank, if you're a good Christian?
Oh wait, good Christians don't cut access to food stamps and get their jollies from poor people going hungry.
