All the possibilities in this storyline seem equally implausible. I can't believe that this is a real thing, but I also can't believe that the police would fabricate such an elaborate set of schemes, or that China would set them up to look real. But one of the three must be true

All this against the backdrop of a peaceful 800+K march on Hong Kong island, and an enormous drop in tension and confrontational protest activity in general after the siege of PolyU ended nearly a month ago. These narratives don't fit with each other.
