I'd also feel more sanguine about the process if there was a single person camped out on a lawn chair outside the White House with a sign reading 'impeach!', or if ten people marched on their lunch hour in any Republican senator's home state on this issue.

Back in the day (90's) there used to be a permanent little sit-in protest outside the White House. Does anyone remember this? I think it was on the national debt. They were a fixture in D.C.

I admit I expected the needle to move more, but the information silos and cultural polarization proved too strong. I’m 60/40 that scotus will force release of tax returns in June. That paired with acquittal by purple R’s in a rigged trial will be useful tools to win 2020 Senate.

Should we still have 2 teams when facing such straight forward case? Should everyone just sit on their hands until the next election while he continues to do whatever he wants?

Getting Rs on the record on the side of Trump and corruption is important IMO. They’ve used various legislative tools to be on the side of corruption without having to affirmatively vote for it till now.

I don't think an acquittal vote will be a millwheel around anyone's neck, but that theory at least makes sense to me. I think it's harder to make it stick in a straight party-line vote (let alone if there are Democratic defections)

Perhaps the hope is to be able to pull in more witnesses since the House got denied, or to keep investigating post-trial. Also could be they’re waiting for Fruman and Parnas to lead to a raid on Giuliani, who would definitely squeal.
