No worries! Thanks for your reporting. This story is bonkers and I don't know what to think of it.
Not sure about how difficult it is to get the chemicals. But the electronic part ie detonator is easy to make. honestly, not that hard to get some stuff in Hong Kong as we all know.
Ammonium nitrate is a common fertilizer and gets shipped around by the millions of tons. The Oklahoma City bomber used a truckload of it. TATP (which the other bomb was?) is easy to make from ingredients anyone can buy, but ridiculously dangerous to handle.
oh I think the problem is the hexamethylene triperoxide diamine right? how hard is it to get it?
It's another one you can make at home from common chemicals. But none of this story makes sense. Who in Hong Kong is suddenly making three kinds of homemade explosive in multi-kilogram quantities, and assembling working bombs that they throw out for the police to find?
police sources in newspapers say possibly the bombs were in a flat (where the gun was found) and thrown away in a hurry before the raid. but yes still doesn’t make sense.
Either the police found real bombs that were planted by an intelligence agency to create a false story, or they are making up this story themselves, or there is someone who is actually making bombs in HK. All of those possibilities sound insane, but I guess one has to be true?
