UK friends, what is the most exasperating possible outcome of the vote next week? What's some constitutional trick you still have up your sleeve, like an inverted Parliament or a Royal Enshamblesment, that we can look forward to having to read explainers about?

I'm getting great replies to this, but because the respondents are British and therefore not legally allowed to encompass the Queen's death (or imagine her having a stroke at exactly the wrong moment), I feel like some of the most exasperating scenarios remain unexplored

If there was a hung parliament AND the Queen died there would be a mass exodus from the UK as the country became unbearable.

There's always the King Ralph scenario where a horrific accident leaves Trump next in line to the throne... with a Corbyn government.

As Terry Pratchett said, monarchy travels faster than light. If the Queen died then Prince Charles would immediately become king, but the election would be put back by 14 days (excluding holidays).

https://politics.stackexchange.com/questions/48306/what-would-happen-if-the-queen-died-immediately-before-a-general-election … also covers abdication and any other “demise of the crown”

It is (remotely) possible the Queen and Duke and Charles could all die within quick succession of each other. What if Queen endorses controversial choice and her successor the next week gets caught up in aftermath? And what if her successor dies soon after? Shakespearean really

We were all encompassing the Queen's death at the beginning of the week, when it would have, according to law, delayed the election to the gap between Christmas and New Year.

That is a contingency that is planned for, but it's spoken about in code. So the terrorist attack on London Bridge last week was extra confusing: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/mar/16/what-happens-when-queen-elizabeth-dies-london-bridge …

          - Queen becomes medically incapable of being monarch - everything delayed for pomp and circumstance - Charles crowned, then *also* becomes medically incapable - everything delayed again - Article 50 extension time runs out
