As for this "I'm a working class landlord" business: class isn't a genetic trait. It's not like having sickle cell. If your relationship to the means of production (i.e. being able to live off wealth rather than wages) changes, so does your class - even if your accent doesn't.

Social class is a mix of economic circumstances and upbringing. Someone referring to themselves as a 'working class landlord' is not making a genetic case, but likely referring to their own social origins.

I don't think the Marxist analysis of relationship to means of production maps onto people's lived reality of class. Otherwise we wouldn't have concepts like 'old money'.
