Kind of a fun phenomenon when technologies get objectively worse with time (something we're not used to!) is that it's synergistic with old person nostalgia. Young people assume it's 100% the latter, reducing the chance the better technology experience can ever be brought back

Absolutely everything about audio technology is better now, and all the old shit is still being made. You can have over the ear headphones AND Bluetooth donglers and infinity other gizmos that don’t require stupid fragile physical media to play songs
