When you make claims that the Hong Kong protests are orchestrated abroad, you're arguing that the population of a Chinese city is incapable of articulating and acting on its interests, but will take remote direction from white people either for money or just out of gullibility.

Let me put this in the most diplomatic way I can... Hong Kongers are not the most malleable, easily swayed people in the world. They have agency to spare.

But it can have its logic no? When foreign interests can push in the same direction as my local and real demands, I would accept. It's a very cold-war logic of things, of course, but it's not hard to imagine local elites for example, working as a link between intrests.
