In 2006 when I was living in Bejing, a friend took me to a Xinjiang restaurant. Does anyone remember this place? It was a large venue with a kind of dinner-and-a-show setup. The best way I can describe it is 1950's Hawaiian tiki bar, except with Xinjiang performers.

A lot of people were there on group dinners, sitting at the big family-style bench seats and getting hammered with their boss. The floor show was songs, skits, sword dances, all exquisitely calibrated to horrify the foreign visitor. It was like Central Asian minstrelsy

Yeah that was one of two or three possible places. Most likely it was Xinjiang Red Rose, but it could also have been Afanti. If it was 2006 most likely Red Rose.
