Dikötter’s book on the Cultural Revolution in this series is the most readable one I’ve ever come across. Highly highly recommend. I liked Jasper Becker’s “Hungry Ghosts” about the GLF. I want to finish “By More Than Providence” by Mike Greene (for more America side reading).
