Also, get the name right before you introduce someone in a public setting. Make a good-faith effort to learn how to say it. I have had presenters come on stage at conferences where I was a speaker and decide to wing it in front of a hundred people. Those presenters are all dead.

It also helps to go somewhere where your name is weird to people. Everyone's name is hard to pronounce somewhere, as my poor friend Wayne learned during a semester in Moscow.
