Readers of twitter, what's the best description in literature (not sci-fi) of a communist utopia? In other words, what's Dante's Paradiso for Marxism? The best-effort work by true believers at imagining the world of tomorrow, as they understood it?

LeGuin's The Dispossessed has an anarchist/socialist society in a resource-poor environment. I think that's part of why the society works -- because it's resource poor and they must work together. Technically SF, but no magical robots or flobotnum in sight.

I was going to say this book as well. It is sci-fi, but the anarcho-syndicalist society the protagonist lives in feels like it could work, and hardcore lefties I know give a solemn nod when asked about it.
