There should be a name for this fallacy that people in the heartland don't understand what's happening, and would change their minds if only it could be explained to them in their simple, folksy language. It's like the inverse of the virtuous emperor fallacy.https://twitter.com/ncweaver/status/1194678158416416768 …

It's like everyone forgot that Trump campaigned on the fact that he was corrupt. He was a rich businessman who knew how the game was played, and would be nobody's fool. Now people want his very happy core voters to be shocked, shocked by that same behavior in office.

My thesis is that Republican voters place a great deal of value on white ethnonationalist policies, deregulation, and a generational lock on the Supreme Court, and will put up with any amount of Trump clown show in the pursuit of those outcomes

This is all true, but it seems to assume that everyone is a Trump voter or a committed Democrat. There are plenty of people who really and truly don’t give a shit! Maybe they can be induced to give a shit with targeted advertising on a mass scale. Idk.

I'm not sure they know anything about his policies or that he's made the swamp bigger because all they watch is FOX & Sinclair & none of the "reporters" who.periodically visit ever ask specific questions about specific policies.

They like his vulgarity and that he hates the people they hate.
