A lot of colonized territories fought the French, but only one took their bread, reformulated it to make a better sandwich than you can find in Paris, and then annihilated their army. Respect.

It makes me sad that there is no Vietnamese restaurant called DIEN BIEN PHO in Paris. (Instead, Parisians still have an infuriating tendency to conflate Chinese and Vietnamese food. I say go over there and finish the job.)
