Overall, Google management handled this adroitly. None of the organizers' demands were met, a majority of the organizers resigned, and the event was essentially a one-off. But the press coverage celebrates heightened consciousness, I guess. https://www.vox.com/recode/2019/11/1/20942234/google-walkout-one-year-anniversary-unionization-organizing-tech-activism-we-wont-built-it …

My mistake, I said no demands were met but I forgot about ending forced arbitration. This demand was not only met, but other tech companies followed suit, and this is to the Googlers' credit.

The thing is, and I don't want to get too Hong Kong about this, but when you have five demands and a single walkout wins you one, then you should consider walking out again, and again, and again, and again, and again, until you get that board seat and everything else.

When the Hong Kong government finally conceded a single demand (withdrawal of a contentious extradition bill), this was the protesters' response. Five demands or nothing. That's how you do it!pic.twitter.com/QxAKk0VPez

It is a weird thing i encounter when talking to a lot of people. They expect that either, a protest does something; or is useless. They vocally reject the idea of a protest as a warning, followed by repeated and escalating action, up to a threat level that forces action.
