Gabbard "put her life on the line" in Kuwait and at the largest military base in Iraq, with "a base movie theater, two Base/Post Exchanges, fast food courts including Subway, Popeyes, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell (2007), Burger King, multiple gyms, dance lessons, and two swimming pools"https://twitter.com/BernieSanders/status/1186405744146554882 …

Issues of hazard aside, Gabbard was not defending this country, but participating in an American war of choice that Sanders himself opposed. It's disappointing to see him buying into the vainglorification of our military.

The point is people in the military sign up to serve their country no matter where the country tells them to go. The onus is on the country, i.e. you and me. She agreed to put her life on the line to the point where it's illegal for her to do anything else.

This is true for many veterans. But Gabbard was given a choice whether to deploy to Iraq, knowing where she would be deployed. Read her bio.
