I wish more Democratic legislators would visit Hong Kong. The territory in the long run will not benefit from being tied into Republican fantasies of Cold War II: China. But Rick Scott, Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley are (to my knowledge) the only US lawmakers to come here recently.https://twitter.com/SenHawleyPress/status/1186281805030285312 …

A good chunk of progressives are pro-China and anti-capitalist. They are not sympathetic to Hong Kong.

I would love a few examples here. I have a hard time imagining progressive leaders looking at totalitarian state such as China’s government and thinking, “Yeah, that seems like a good idea.” Heck, support for Hong Kong seems to be the only thing both sides of the isle agree on.

Do you have an example of a progressive leader out of this “good chunk” you mentioned that are in support of China’s totalitarian government?

"Good chunk" refers to the electorate, not to the leaders. My opinion is based on my own observations and conversations with individuals. Defending Hong Kong is a Republican thing, Democrats don't do it much because Communist China is fren to a lot of leftists.
