Facebook also self-selects for smart people who can rationalize working there. Villainizing the press for its inevitable inaccuracies (a universal across all places and times at beleaguered institutions) is an imporant part of that psychological health mechanism.

One can find exactly the same kind of language coming out of ICE. The issue is much more complex than the press makes it out to be, they paint everyone with the same brush, proposed solutions (abolish ICE!) are patently unrealistic, good people work there etc.

Finally, one of the reasons Facebook coverage is inaccurate is that no one there will talk to the press. This is a self-reinforcing dynamic and when you combine it with periodic tracts from the robot man-child who leads the company, gives the whole enterprise a cult-like aspect
