I also think sincere believers of impeachment on principle have not spent enough time imagining the political hellscape of an America where Trump was removed from office by a close vote in the Senate.

My experience has been that when political corruption is ignored, it becomes institutionalized. If Trump isn’t impeached and removed from office, you will get to see another country slide into authoritarianism.

I am saying that the process is too far along, and the mechanism for removal is not politically available. I further believe that a failed attempt at impeachment will strengthen Trump. Most people seem to disagree with me and I am fine with that.
