As the article says, "air travel accounts for about 2.5 percent of global carbon dioxide emissions". It is responsible for ~5% of climate change, according to the IPCC. If we build a lot of nuclear power plants, we can still eat steak and fly all we want. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/19/climate/air-travel-emissions.html …

Nuclear power plants take very long to build and cost so much money that it's really not a good idea to build them, compared to renewable alternatives.

They can be built more quickly, safely, and at less cost given appropriate regulatory changes.

Not sure there's evidence for that: https://www.vox.com/platform/amp/energy-and-environment/2018/7/11/17555644/nuclear-power-energy-climate-decarbonization-renewables?__twitter_impression=true&fbclid=IwAR3SGqaiDOR94XLZy2sUFCFqsYuAWUu1HQd2ScDDg4xDjwujRKXpQ7tTCZE …

The thrust of the article (the second point) is that it's a regulatory problem. France gets 71% of its power from nuclear. We have the technology.

The thrust of the article is that it's a funding problem, and the "regulatory problem" is that tons more public money is needed

Regulatory reform will "...will only 'slow, not reverse, the losses.'"

France built its reactors in a different competitive market compared to renewable power today

Of course they did. The point is we can decarbonize by changing regulatory and market conditions today. Any solution has to do that.

We could build a lot of nuclear reactors but you would basically say that you don't care about market models of ROI and go for full energy socialism

I would support a Soviet style rollout of nuclear reactors, btw
