It's an interesting sign of the times that the place there is bipartisan consensus against the President's actions is the one area of policy where he is not delusional (even if you disagree with him utterly) but quite pragmatic.

I think we've seen enough to know that Trump is broadly against American troop commitments abroad. I agree that it's obscured by a fog of grift and bluster, but this seems to be a rare genuine political belief he holds

You’re letting words that come out of his mouth count for an awful lot. What we’ve actually seen, he has increased the number of troops deployed.
