The issue is no longer an app (which lives on at http://hkmap.live ) but Mr. Cook feeding into and amplifying Chinese state propaganda on Hong Kong, including the fictions that the protesters ambush police or target individuals for violence. These are dangerous lies.

I criticize Facebook and YouTube for running paid Chinese state propaganda on their sites, but at Apple it's being delivered to directly to employees via internal memo from the CEO. Mr. Cook is a smart man and I count on him to not be satisfied with the answers he's been given.

Mr Tim Cook lied right to the face to all his employees. The app is used by protestors to avoid police’s teargas and brutality. Thank you for showing the truth to the world.

To be fair, Apple this time is quite reasonable about the 2 sides of the app. Anyway, let's put those public info on
