I would turn it aroun this way—you're dealing with folk chemistry and rumors spread by young HK protesters on online forums. Can you state authoritatively in a way we can point them to that CS doesn't decompose into some kind of deadly poison when it sits on a shelf for years?

Here's the thing. With CS grenades, do we know what the other ingredients are? What's in the burning filler? The majority, by weight, of a CS grenade/projectile is the filler, not the CS. The fate of that filler is unknown to me.

All we know is the manufacturer, Nonlethal Technologies in Pennsylvania. I'll see if I can Google up a data sheet from them
