There are hundreds of thousands of domestic workers (almost entirely women, many from the Philippines and Indonesia) working in Hong Kong. They are required by law to live in their employer's home; tomorrow is their weekly day off. I hope the MTR is back up and running for them

The sight of these women on Sundays gathering in public spaces like pedestrian overpasses, where they take off their shoes, sit on cardboard mats, and eat what looks like the best food on the planet out of tupperware, is one of the most striking images a visitor gets of Hong Kong
