Oh look, another asshole is coming to Hong Kong to try and ride the wave. Who is it this time, @SenRickScott? Ah yes, the chief executive of the largest US healthcare fraud ever committed. So he can fuck off too.https://twitter.com/SolomonYue/status/1176821658117529600 …

Look, when foreign political types fly in to act all chummy, before rushing to thank them please do some minimal research. Are they the US equivalent of a Claudia Mo or a Regina Ip? A Roy Kwong or a Junius Ho? Think always, what’s in it for THEM.

People keep praising any prominent person who says “support Hong Kong” without stopping to find out if they are: basically good, like Roy basically bad, like Junius Imagine if you saw a non-HKer praising Junius. You’d cringe, yes? Well that goes both ways.

It’s also a bigger an issue with your rightwing politicians because they fucking love cops. They’ll be all “wow, HK police are bad, end state violence” then go home to being all “blue lives matter” in a country with endemic police brutality issues. https://youtu.be/km4uCOAzrbM

Rick Scott continues to be trash as of... huh, literally today. So again, be careful about embracing overseas visitors before knowing who they are and what they stand (and don’t stand) for, and what their overseas rep is.https://twitter.com/mobute/status/1177269109702254592?s=21 …

Rick Scott’s company was fined a record $1.7 billion for Medicare and Medicaid fraud, and in a deposition in which he invoked his 5th Amendment rights 75 times, he refused to answer whether he was a current or former employee of his own company. https://twitter.com/Tierney_Megan/status/1177267633009385472 …

Aaaand I see you all, in the replies, thanking this guy for coming here. The guy who approved anti-democratic gerrymandered district maps. The guy with an A+ NRA rating. The guy who oversaw 28 executions while in office.https://twitter.com/senrickscott/status/1178373237841027072?s=21 …

I spent the last few days in Hong Kong, where I met with business & pro-democracy leaders to discuss the unrest & the US’ commitment to freedom & human dignity. I won’t stop fighting until our economic & political future is secure from the threat of Chinese influence. pic.twitter.com/IW4mUtnli7

The idea that @SenRickScott is pro-democracy... lol. Not for everyone. He supports voter ID laws that disproportionately block people of colour from voting, refused to extend voting time during a hurricane, and delayed restoration of voting rights for non-violent felons.

Goddamn vampire, he’s just here to “stick it to the commies” and feed off our energy. The best way to support freedom and democracy in Hong Kong @SenRickScott? Support it in America, first. Walk the goddamn walk before coming over here to pay lip service to it for clout.

The broad bipartisan support for Hong Kong in the Senate is valuable, and it is good to have any sitting senator coming to visit here. There's nothing wrong with welcoming him warmly.

Anti-democratic hypocrisy must always be called out. If he wants to truly do the right thing by us, he has to first show that he can do the right thing by his own people. You know, the ones he stole from in a massive Medicare fraud.

Most of the Republican caucus backing Hong Kong in the Sneate are a disaster on domestic policy. But their backing is unequivocally good for Hong Kong, and the more of them that visit, the better. Calling out politicians on hypocrisy is like calling them out on wearing a necktie
