This is a weird argument to have. Communism is a kind of secular religion; there's necessarily a dissonance between the unrealizable goals and the need to have a workable economy. Communist countries that adopt a market economy can do OK economically; are still communist

This goes back to as early as Lenin and the New Economic Policy. I think much of the confusion and pointless fighting comes from not recognizing the religious, aspirational aspects of Marxist faith, and instead having "no true Scotsman" arguments over implementation

So if a country has a totalizing state apparatus, and calls itself communist, and is run by a Communist party in proper communion with the traditions of Marxism-Leninism, then call it communist! The fact that the economic model is fantasy is their problem to solve, not ours
