There are no direct flights from HK to Ecuador. No plane has that range; it's a nearly antipodal flight.
It's a range issue. You can't fly from South America to South China because the planet is too fat. The issue is not airspace, but the extradition policy (formal or informal) of wherever the plane has to land en route.

I didn't even understand the decision to go to Hong Kong. The S.A.R. designation won't protect you from China in either place if you're that high value a target.
