It was (is?) a weird night in Hong Kong. Riot police followed protesters up and down the main road in the tourist district. Protesters would set a fire, firemen (still cheered) would put it out, and riot cops would shoo everyone away. Same thing would happen a block further on

(by 'set a fire', I mean a harmless bonfire in the middle of the road). There didn't seem to be many police out, unlike more recent events where they came in endless waves. Protesters focused on doing what damage they could to at least two major MTR stations.

The big demand now is that the MTR authorities or police release the CCTV tapes of what happened in Prince Edward station on August 31, when riot police beat and severely injured passengers on the train. So the once-neutral MTR system is now the biggest target in HK protests

Weird that the police did not deploy their mighty water cannon tonight, and were generally so few in number compared to 8/31.
