There is no syllabus for professional mastery because there is not enough time in the human lifetime to know everything about even narrow subjects. Your heroes are specialists, you just don’t realize it. You have no concept of the depth and variety of the world’s challenges.

You become the ignorant fool that preceded you on a project, and there is absolutely nothing you can do to avoid it. Sucessors will never understand the sacrifices you made in impossible situations that had to be contended. Do your best as a steward, that’s all you can hope for.

Social media allows those fluent in rhetoric to blamelessly pick situations they can appear specialists in, or identify areas others have overreached - and exploit it. Nobody who selects the questions they get asked is remotely as intelligent as they seem. It’s immaculate fraud.
