Dear LazyTwitter: please outrage me in one tweet about putting Parliament in a pirogue or whatever it is the new PM has done. Current outrage status: low. It seems like it just removes a few days from an already endless debate. But I am ready to be very outraged! Do your worst!
But there's a chance to pass bills later before Oct 31. Also the deadline is about as hard as the previous hard deadlines, right?

Macron holds the deadline cards. Depends on how charitable he’s feeling.

They were softened by Parliament passing a bill to force the PM to seek an extension. Johnson is trying to preclude that, and it would need the EU to grant it, and they're rightly sick of doing so. Changing the default to Revoke from crash-out would be best.

These impressions are false. The timing proposed is *the last five weeks before Oct 31,* so that Parliament will be faced with ‘now that the country has left, clean up the mess’. 1/2

And extending each of the previous deadlines have required actions which proroguing prevents. ‘We kicked the can before, we’ll just keep kicking it,’ is pretty much ‘we reached deeper in our rainy day fund and made it through each time before, we can just keep doing that.’ 2/2

The EU has said they're not interested in moving the deadline again unless the British do something actually constructive to justify it (like holding a referendum or general election, or coming up with a brillant new plan nobody had thought of).
