Like I said in another thread, tear gas doesn't work on frontline protesters, who are equipped against it. It just creates misery for the surrounding neighborhood, including little kids and elderly people in their homes. But the government is AWOL, and the police are on autopilot

The government through its inaction is demonstrating the reason for the protests. They do not represent the people, they hide from responsibility and action, and they do not protect the people they are selected to serve. This is why suffrage matters, and the protests will go on

There is still a chance to de-escalate the protests by granting two key demands: an independent commission into police violence, and withdrawal of the extradition bill. But if someone is killed in the protests, that window will close. The government is wasting its best chance.

Well to be fair a small disclaimer here: to keep everyone's identity safe we don't know how many people in our group of volunteers are actually out there in the front lines, so the observation is made purely as watching on live feed and just after weeks of incidents.

But agree with you 200%: seems like TG now is used more to divide and make everyone angry, pitching locals against the protesters for causing misery all around ("if you weren't causing trouble why would they do this to us") but really? TG every single time there's a group?
