There was no tear gas at the march I attended yesterday (no tear gas in Hong Kong last night at all!) but in the grocery district we walked through a thick cloud of durian, which is worse. That stuff could get through a space suit. (thanks @johncarlosbaez)https://twitter.com/coburgirl/status/1162318490310565889 …

If a banana made of garlic exercised vigorously in the heat, took off its gym socks, and then didn't wash those socks for a week, that's what durian smells like when it's not ripe. When it ripens it smells worse. Also it's heavy and covered with spikes. Naturally people love it.

Seriously, you get used to the smell. It's rich and creamy, like ripe avocado but sweeter and more complex. The different cultivars each have their own flavor profiles and textures. Not for nothing is it called the King of Fruits! I'm not even SE Asian, and I love it.

Clearly a pro-durian Twitter bot account! (I want to believe, but it's a hard fruit to get close to!)

Have you tried durian ice cream? Less odor when it's frozen.

I generally really like durian derivatives (pastries, ice cream, shakes) and I am trying to work my way up to the source material
