There was no tear gas at the march I attended yesterday (no tear gas in Hong Kong last night at all!) but in the grocery district we walked through a thick cloud of durian, which is worse. That stuff could get through a space suit. (thanks @johncarlosbaez)https://twitter.com/coburgirl/status/1162318490310565889 …

-
Because nothing could taste as bad as it smells

I had a student once describe it as “lobster covered in socks”

The thing is, when you love it, the smell is fine. The only thing that's dubious is the whole "don't drink alcohol and eat durian at the same time or you'll die" thing.

Seriously, you get used to the smell. It's rich and creamy, like ripe avocado but sweeter and more complex. The different cultivars each have their own flavor profiles and textures. Not for nothing is it called the King of Fruits! I'm not even SE Asian, and I love it.

Clearly a pro-durian Twitter bot account! (I want to believe, but it's a hard fruit to get close to!)
