I'm in a situation where I want to move my SIM card from phone A (an iPhone) to phone B (Android) and back. I want to keep using Signal as I do this. Am I reading the Signal docs right that say "LOL, we'll delete all messages from your iPhone and Signal desktop" if I do this?

The desired behavior is that when I go back to using phone A, Signal picks up where it left off. The safety number will change, but message history on that device is preserved. However, that is not what reading the docs suggests will happen.

Isn’t that because of the device-to-device encryption? Would you really want your messages to be portable, since it would mean the decryption key living somewhere that wasn’t your phone?

They rolled out this feature for Android, using a 30-digit passcode. I just want the same for iOS
