Say what you will about a rapidly warming planet, there's going to be enough work for everyone. Miami's not going to move itself 100 miles inland using self-driving scooters!

I do mean this with all sincerity (or at least all the sincerity I can muster). If you anticipate climate change will lead to global crisis, then retooling the entire industrial economy and dealing with its impacts on poorer people will be an all-hands-on-deck effort akin to war

I mean, there will be rapid upheaval in terms of the _types_ of employment available because of automation, and lots of humans will not be happy about their options.
-
No one's happy now, either! That's a different argument than UBI weenies like Yang are advancing, though.

They’re perfectly compatible, in that widespread automation could result in disruption of the postindustrial employment landscape, but climate change will require a massive amount of skilled and unskilled manual labor to deal with the effects. Fewer accountants, more carpenters.
-
Accountants can easily do even the hardest manual labor. Stalin showed us that!

Automation is going to be an issue way before climate change has an impact on how we allocate resources like you describe. AI accelerates exponentially and it WILL kill jobs before we need to "move Miami" calling the only people taking it seriously "weenies" is self destructive
