Mitch McConnell is the key figure keeping election security legislation, legal protections for DACA, and the Equality Act from the Senate floor. Facebook gave $1,500 to his re-election campaign on June 27pic.twitter.com/S9DD7FoNHs
Here's a $1,000 donation from Facebook to Mike Crapo on June 27. I like Senator Crapo! He was very kind to me when I gave testimony before his committee! But I like LGBT people more, and he is also a co-sponsor of the discriminatory First Amendment Defense Actpic.twitter.com/SQYBMYgVGC
On June 21, Mike Johnson and Doug Collins (see upthread) introduced the Asylum Reform and Border Protection Act (https://mikejohnson.house.gov/media/press-releases/johnson-collins-reintroduce-sweeping-legislation-address-abuse-immigration-laws …) which would turn away asylum applicants at the border in violation of international treaty. Facebook gave him $1,000 on June 27
Facebook gave a maximum $15,000 donation to the National Republican Senatorial Committee on June 27. Again, this is #pride month, which they vocally celebrated! But they can't even be bothered to wait three days for the sake of appearance, correctly predicting we'll do nothing.pic.twitter.com/K3uvCjQDM7
Ladies and Gentlemen, here's Senator David Perdue: https://www.theatlantavoice.com/articles/georgia-senator-stands-by-trump/ …. Facebook gave him $2,500 on June 27pic.twitter.com/kMY6FzyQSI
(I'm sorry for the length of the thread, but Facebook gave to a lot of really shitty people this month)
I've tweeted before about Texas Senator John Cornyn. Along with Ted Cruz, he nominated to the Federal bench a guy who said transgender kids are "part of Satan's plan". The nomination was withdrawn after that, but Cornyn never repudiated it. Facebook gave Cornyn $5,000 on June 27pic.twitter.com/gmr22D288J
Here's Thom Tillis, who rode on Air Force One to yesterday's Trump rally and joined the President in his motorcade, defending the President in the press today from accusations that he encouraged a "send her back!" chant from supporters. Facebook gave Tillis $2,500 on June 27pic.twitter.com/NK8lZuoKl5
When the Senate voted 98-1 in 2015 on the resolution "It is the sense of the Senate that climate change is real and not a hoax," the lone holdout was Roger Wicker. Wicker is also a co-sponsor of the anti-LGBT First Amendment Defense Act. Facebook gave him $2,500 on June 27.pic.twitter.com/ULuuz4kywc
What can you do about this? Here's the complete filing, including the full list of contributors. If you work at Facebook, you can reach out to coworkers who pay in and tell them how their money is being spent. Together, we have the power to shut this down! https://docquery.fec.gov/pdf/239/201907189151433239/201907189151433239.pdf …
And as always, I'd love to hear @boztank explain why he contributes to these politicians. The man likes his Twitter but never seems to be online when there's a discussion of Facebook's political giving
