I remember when he did that without the backing of the DCCC yes. I also remember him pledging not to back Pelosi for speaker. All well-covered in the press.
I need her to outline what that strategy is because from where I sit it seems to be letting the most popular issues of the electorate sit while the opposition beats her up brutally.
A more skillful player would be giving private reassurances to the large progressive caucus that this is the plan, to head off the motivation for staff sniping at each other on Twitter. Pelosi and her staff aren't doing any of that.
I appreciate wanting to give cover to incumbent conservative Democrats, but her own voting along side them isn't helping their reputation – people nationwide seem to hate her already! – and is actively hurting her relationships with popular reps in heavily blue districts.
