Hey Lazyweb, check my lazy math. Say we wanted to give every Federal campaign a $100K budget for security (ignore for now that this is a terrible idea). That's 34 senate + 435 house races + the presidency. Assuming a four-way primary + incumbent in each race, it's $235M, right?

It's an interesting idea. Are you thinking a grant-like situation, or something like a pool of money from which campaigns can submit expenses to be reimbursed (after review)?

No problem! I'm working on a post about who should secure campaigns, and wanted a rough cost figure for "what if we just gave campaigns a budget for this". I think it's a bad idea for other reasons so I didn't put further thought into how to structure it
