I like the New York Times Privacy Project. Some of my best friends etc. But the paper's two unforgivable sins are: 1. It does not disclose massive financial conflicts of interest in articles on surveillance 2. There is no ombudsman or Public Editor to complain about that to

Specific disclosure. "The NYT has a financial relationship with Amazon, the subject of this post. This editorial also includes tracking scripts from Amazon, which collect reader data." The same standard you would hold the business section to if they reported on a NYT partner

So for example, this piece by Sundar Pichai is stuffed full of Google tracking scripts, and didn't even include the minimal disclaimer you pasted at me (which would have been wholly inadequate on its own).
