Correct. Non-profits did just fine fundraising in the 90's when they had no idea how many people opened their solicitation letter, before we had a mass surveillance economy.

Surveillance makes life easier for lots of people, including some lovable ones. Being monitored 24/7 makes it more likely you'd get prompt medical attention, too. But it's a tradeoff, and the harms so greatly outweigh the benefits that the nonprofits are going to have to adapt.
