A thread!
We gathered 101 signatures, real names, for the whole world to see, in less than 36 hours.
We got a group of 20 together to march in Pride, despite not reaching agreement with @SFPride until Friday afternoon, when most people are already done for the weekend.https://twitter.com/Pinboard/status/1145471536188387328 …

We get what you're saying,
@Pinboard, but actually we had a really great showing for something that grew completely organically, on an issue that had virtually no visibility outside our LGBTQ+ community when we started.1 reply 0 retweets 15 likesShow this thread -
We're now at nearly 150 signatures, and we're hoping that this weekend's events will give us the visibility to get a whole lot more. So while we're frustrated that we haven't gotten 20% of the company to sign or anything, we are actually feeling very positive about the numbers.

So instead of cynicism, what we need is support. We need people like you to mention our Twitter account when you tweet about us. We need to get more media coverage. And we need to do a lot more outreach beyond just the Gayglers mailing lists where this all started.

We're going to keep working at all of that. Because when a company like Google isn't doing right by our community, people suffer. People are radicalized. People die. We know Googlers care. If we can reach them, if we can talk to them, if we can listen, they'll join us.

We love your tweets,
@Pinboard. Don't get us wrong. But we think googlers are more ready than they have ever been. There's@GoogleWalkout. The fight against Maven. Dragonfly. It might not be easy, it might take a lot of work, but one thing it definitely isn't is impossible.1 reply 0 retweets 14 likesShow this thread -
@Google wants you to be cynical. They want us to be cynical. That's their only real weapon. They know that cynical employees and a cynical public aren't a threat. Give us a chance to prove you wrong,@Pinboard And our DMs are open if you want to talk.

Happy Pride!1 reply 1 retweet 19 likesShow this thread
I think the difficulty of mobilizing tech workers makes your achievement more impressive, not less, and wish you every success growing what you've started. I especially agree there's no place for cynicism, which has been our biggest enemy from the beginning

At some point someone (very possibly you!) will succeed in lighting the fire at Google and it will be through hard sustained work in the face of difficult odds
