In 2018, Google decided to co-sponsor the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) alongside the NRA.pic.twitter.com/P11qGbxsXV

What strikes me about Google's political support for these causes is how *unnecessary* it is. Google runs one of the most sophisticated lobbying operations in DC. It could join IBM and Apple in disbanding its PAC altogether, and suffer no consequences. But they just don't care.

There's now 100K of you who work at Google. You can flex a little and make this all stop.

Google's public FEC filings include a list of every single employee who pays into this hot mess. You can contact fellow Googlers and make sure they know what their donations are going to fund. Many pay in via payroll deduction, and may have no idea. https://docquery.fec.gov/pdf/649/201905209149757649/201905209149757649.pdf …

But how do they reconcile this with their ongoing campaign donations to some of the most homophobic and transphobic politicians in America? Here is a thread of threads with the facts. https://twitter.com/Microsoft/status/1134506730753265665 …Show this thread1 reply 0 retweets 2 likes -

So that April disclosure for MSFT PAC lists ~$29K in itemized receipts, but $52K unitemized. Where does the unitemized money come from?

My understanding is you have to itemize PAC donations when people have paid in > $200 for the calendar year. I'll RT your question so we can get answers from people who know this world better.
