(Main counter-example I can think of is "Man of Steel" which had Shirtless Hairy Superman as, like, one of the most prominent images in the marketing. IDK why they went in a different direction there.)

I'm not sure if it even tracks with the evolution of beauty/attractiveness standards exactly, although I am not really knowledgeable there. It might just be some weird self-evolving Hollywood Tic.
