      "have the right to transmit" != "automatic transfer", which is what happened with Cambridge Analytica

      See 20.2... it clarifies this as yes, directly to another is the ideal case. Automatic is a loaded term. Automatic as in you the subject press a button to say “yes, transfer from FB to X”

      Exactly. This is a very disingenuous framing. User initiated transfer of data *they have provided* to someone else ≠ giving nonconsensual access to a third party of a trove data you have collected about people, with and without their knowledge

      That's one of the frustrating parts where it's just been left to EU regulators to decide a pivotal question about what exactly it means to "own your data", which in my mind is the crux of the regulation, but has been left completely open for interpretation

      I believe the whole flawed model of "your data is your own" will break on the rocks of this problem, but as far as what the status quo actually *is*, it's everybody guessing about what EU regulators will eventually decide
