You could also argue that Google is terrible at having "customers". Many people will confuse "users" with these rare folk, and they'd be wrong.

I get that. My point is that Google never seem to have got that basic B2C relationship down and don't feel they have to. You may disagree, however I would say this is why people like Microsoft and Amazon are doing better with things like Azure and AWS.

Ah, I see what you mean. I don't know how it is with Amazon, but this is something that Microsoft really used to know how to do.
