"We incurred net losses of $146.9 million, $140.1 million, and $138.9 million in fiscal years 2017, 2018, and 2019, respectively." The promise of а profitable first quarter in 2054 makes Slack the hottest tech IPO of the year

I know what you mean! My business works with tech startups that have raised millions of dollars and only the best are profitable. We’ve been profitable since day 1 with no money except my own invested.
-
It's amazing how one's attitude to profitability changes when the money being spent comes out of their own pocket

honestly think the idea large corporates should make money is a toxic idea. companies have lots of value outside of money (see, e.g. Amazon, which reinvests all its profit w/ no dividends) and that money would otherwise be spent on compensating employees or improving the company
-
Errr - reinvesting profits is "improving the company" - unless you meant it in some other way?

It is pretty amazing how negatively productive these big tech companies are. I was taught this is not how capitalism works

financing can seem weird but if you expect every transaction to be net positive in one very specific dimension, you can never give to the poor, never have friends for dinner, never sing a song (unless paid of course). Probably a useless tweet but at least I'm not getting paid!
