"We incurred net losses of $146.9 million, $140.1 million, and $138.9 million in fiscal years 2017, 2018, and 2019, respectively." The promise of а profitable first quarter in 2054 makes Slack the hottest tech IPO of the year

I guess one way to run online chat at a loss is to promise almost a quarter billion dollars to Amazon. " As of January 31, 2019, the Company had a remaining minimum payment obligation of $212.5 million to AWS through July 31, 2023"

I can't get over the fact that I have 21,374 active users and am more profitable by several hundred million dollars than Slack, Lyft, Uber, Tesla, and Pinterest put together. It's like showing up for school on Backwards Day when nobody told you, except with money.

The no electric car company is losing money twenty times faster than the IRC with pictures company.

The "IRC with pictures" hot take was disingenuous in 2014 and wrong today. Are you aware of the features that have been developed in the last 5 years?

I honestly think that Slack built a somewhat better mousetrap, but the numbers in their IPO filing are just madness. Somewhere, buried in that mess, is a healthy $50M, 35-employee company that delivers a small but consistent profit. We will of course never find it.

Consistent profit means your business is a complete and total failure. Shareholders demand infinite growth and infinitely increasing profits with absolutely no bounds. You know, like cancer but with money.
