Can anyone point me to an introduction to "serverless" that doesn't involve mastering Scientology-like levels of terminology and devotion?pic.twitter.com/xbLFtXy59s

Pay as you go doesn’t make sense for your mobile phone if you’re talking for 200 hours a month
Sorry if you mentioned this elsewhere, what are you using that only costs 200/month?
Real servers, probably.
i think it can make sense for some workloads, for instance http://HaveIBeenPwned.com relies on Azure Functions and DB https://www.troyhunt.com/serverless-to-the-max-doing-big-things-for-small-dollars-with-cloudflare-workers-and-azure-functions/ …
On this subject, do you still host at a co-lo on your own hardware? Do you have any links about that?
...I will not only help you do this, but I will cover the bill for the experiment.
I'm loving this. One thing to keep in mind is that this isn't a zero sum situation. Some parts of your workload may do great on a serverless platform, others may not. Enjoy where you can, sidestep where you can't.
sir at Clouds 'R Us u only need to pay for what u use. look at this puppy right here i bet u could run tens, nay hundreds, of functions on it. $50* and it's yours. (* dollar figures denominated in thousands, bandwidth fees extra**, see billing agreement for details***)
I think it’s a trade-off that usually makes sense for growth-oriented companies who have some money to burn and little/no ability to predict their compute requirements month by month. For an owner-occupied and mostly stable shop like Pinboard, it’s madness.
AWS gets quite expensive fast. Hosting nothing already costs $1,50 a month.
