Anybody have a recommendation for a decent human-luggable RAID enclosure with 8-12 bays for offsite backup? Use case is haul it into a data center, let it fill up, and then haul it to storage. I prefer a dumb box of disks easy to administer from a ubuntu server or mac laptop.
Good to know! I had a small one but have no experience with the larger capacity stuff. I appreciate the recommendation.

Synology is nice but much more that just a dumb box of disks. DSM platform does a lot, including backup or mirror data to another Synology or cloud storage service. My org runs a RS3614 that both continuously syncs file shares to Azure + pushes full nightly backups to a DS1815
